1) Overview

MarHire provides car rentals across Morocco. Every rental includes Full Insurance coverage. Depending on the vehicle you book and the city of rental, one of four insurance plans applies. The key differences between plans relate to the excess (deductible), the security deposit, and the minimum driver age.

What "Full Insurance" means: The vehicle is fully covered against accidental damage. However, "full" does not mean the driver never pays anything — it depends on who is at fault and on the plan that applies to your vehicle:

  • Accident report confirms the driver is at fault: the driver pays up to the excess applicable to their plan (Basic, Smart, and Premium), based on the actual cost of the damage. If the damage costs less than the excess, the driver pays only the actual repair cost — never more than the excess cap. Zero-Risk Protection drivers pay nothing (€0 excess).
  • Accident report confirms the driver is NOT at fault: the driver pays nothing (€0) on every plan, provided all required documentation is submitted, and the insurer confirms non-fault.

Availability, excess, deposit, and minimum age vary by vehicle and city. Not every plan is offered on every car or in every city, and the minimum driver age differs between vehicles and plans. The plan(s) available for your booking, the exact excess amount, the deposit (if any), and the minimum driver age are all shown on the individual car page on marhire.com and confirmed on your booking confirmation. Please check these before you book.

Police/insurer report is always required on every plan. Without a police report or insurer's accident report, the client is liable for the full cost of all damage, regardless of the plan booked or the amount of damage.

2) Your Insurance Plan - Four Options

Plan 1 - Basic Protection (Deposit + Excess)

  • Full insurance (CDW) included.
  • Driver at fault: pays up to the excess, see §5 for amounts by vehicle category.
  • Driver not at fault: pays €0.
  • Refundable security deposit required at pick-up.
  • Availability and minimum driver age depend on the vehicle and city; see the car page.
  • Police/insurance report always required; no report provided = client pays all damage.

Plan 2 - Smart No-Deposit (No Deposit, Standard Excess)

  • Full insurance (CDW) included.
  • Driver at fault: pays up to the excess, see §5 for amounts by vehicle category.
  • Driver not at fault: pays €0.
  • No security deposit required.
  • Availability and minimum driver age depend on the vehicle and city; see the car page.
  • Police/insurance report always required; no report provided = client pays all damage.

Plan 3 - Premium Protection (No Deposit, Low Excess)

  • Full insurance (CDW) included.
  • Driver at fault: pays up to a reduced (low) excess, see §5 for amounts by vehicle category.
  • Driver not at fault: pays €0.
  • No security deposit required.
  • Availability and minimum driver age depend on the vehicle and city; see the car page.
  • Police/insurance report always required; no report provided = client pays all damage.

Plan 4 - Zero-Risk Protection (No Deposit, No Excess)

  • Full insurance (CDW) included.
  • Driver at fault or not at fault: pays €0 (no excess).
  • No security deposit required.
  • Tyres excluded from coverage (as on all plans, see §9).
  • Availability and minimum driver age depend on the vehicle and city; see the car page (a higher minimum age usually applies).
  • Police/insurance report always required; no report provided = client pays all damage.

4) What Is Covered (All Plans)

Collision Damage Waiver (CDW): Covers accidental damage to the rental vehicle. If the accident report confirms the driver is at fault, the driver pays up to the excess applicable to their plan (Basic, Smart, or Premium), based on the actual repair cost, never more than the excess cap. If the driver is not at fault and documentation is provided, the driver pays nothing. Zero-Risk Protection drivers pay nothing regardless of fault.

Glass & Windscreen: Damage to the windscreen, windows, and mirrors is covered under all four plans. No additional add-on is required.

24/7 Roadside Assistance: Towing to the nearest partner garage, breakdown coordination, and accident assistance available at all times. See §11 for details.

4A) Non-Fault Accidents (All Plans)

If the accident report confirms you are not at fault, you pay nothing (€0)  provided all required documentation is submitted and the insurer confirms non-fault.

Required documentation:

  • Full police report or signed constat amiable including the third party's details.
  • Photos of the scene, both vehicles, all damage, and licence plates with date, time, and location.
  • Third party's insurance certificate, vehicle plate, and driver's licence details.
  • Your rental agreement and a valid driver's licence.
  • Witness details if available.

Timing: Notify MarHire Support immediately and submit all documents within 24 hours (or the next working day if outside business hours).

Notes:

  • If the insurer later determines shared or full liability on your side, the excess applicable to your plan (Basic, Smart, Premium) will apply based on the actual damage cost. Zero-Risk Protection carries no excess.
  • Hit-and-run or unknown third party: if the responsible party cannot be identified, the excess (Basic, Smart, Premium) applies until liability is recovered from the third party. Zero-Risk Protection carries no excess.

5) Excess (Deductible) - Basic, Smart & Premium

The excess is the maximum you pay when the accident report confirms you are at fault or the at-fault party is unknown. The actual amount charged depends on the repair cost; you never pay more than the excess cap and never more than the actual damage cost.

Standard excess applies to Basic Protection and Smart No-Deposit. Premium Protection applies a reduced (low) excess for the same incidents. Zero-Risk Protection carries no excess; the driver pays €0 regardless of fault.

Example: If your standard excess is €700 and the repair costs €400, you pay €400. If the repair costs €900, you pay €700 (the cap). On Premium Protection, the same incident is capped at the lower reduced excess. If you are not at fault, you pay €0 on every plan.

Vehicle Category Example Models Standard Excess (Basic & Smart) Reduced Excess (Premium) Zero-Risk
Economy / City Peugeot 208, Renault Clio 5, Dacia Logan ≈ €500–€700 ≈ €200 €0
Compact / Family & Crossovers Peugeot 308, Dacia Duster, Renault Kadjar ≈ €700–€900 ≈ €300 €0
SUV / 4×4 Toyota Land Cruiser, Kia Sorento ≈ €1,000–€1,900 ≈ €600 €0
Premium / Luxury Mercedes E-Class, BMW 5 Series, Audi A6 ≈ €2,000–€6,500 ≈ €800–€1,000 €0

The exact standard and reduced excess for your specific vehicle appears on the car page on marhire.com and on the car documentation provided at pick-up. Reduced-excess figures above are indicative and confirmed per vehicle.

6) Security Deposit

Plan 1  Basic Protection: A refundable security deposit usually at or above the applicable excess is collected at pick-up. Payment is by cash by default. Card payment is accepted where a card machine is available at the pick-up location. The deposit is refunded after the vehicle passes final inspection. Card holds are typically released within 3 to 14 business days depending on your bank.

Plans 2, 3 & 4  No Deposit Required: No deposit is collected at pick-up. All other insurance conditions, including applicable exclusions and the excess (Smart and Premium), remain in full effect. Premium Protection applies a reduced excess; Zero-Risk Protection eliminates both the deposit and the excess, meaning zero out-of-pocket exposure for covered incidents subject to the exclusions in §9 and the report requirements in §2.

7) Optional Add-Ons (Availability Varies)

Excess Reduction / SCDW (Basic & Smart only): Where Premium or Zero-Risk Protection is not offered on your vehicle or city, an Excess Reduction add-on may be available to lower your excess cap to a reduced amount for covered incidents. Exclusions in §9 still apply. Premium Protection already includes a reduced excess and Zero-Risk Protection already removes the excess entirely, so this add-on does not apply to those plans.

8) Driver Eligibility & Permitted Use

  • Minimum age & licence: The minimum driver age depends on the vehicle, the city, and the plan, and is shown on the car page and booking confirmation. A valid driving licence held for the required minimum period (typically 2+ years) is required, and higher requirements may apply to certain vehicle categories and to Zero-Risk Protection.
  • Named drivers only: Only drivers listed on the rental agreement are insured. Any unlisted driver voids coverage.
  • Territory: The vehicle is insured for use within Morocco only.
  • Road types: Off-road use is not permitted. Unpaved tracks or terrain that risks underbody or undercarriage damage are considered off-road use.

9) Common Exclusions (All Plans)

Insurance  including any optional Excess Reduction / SCDW and including Zero-Risk Protection  does not cover the following. The client will be held fully liable for all resulting costs:

  • Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, reckless or dangerous driving, or racing.
  • Unauthorised drivers (any driver not named on the rental agreement).
  • Use of the vehicle for commercial hire or to carry passengers for reward.
  • Negligence: leaving the car unlocked, keys in the vehicle, improper loading, and ignoring warning lights.
  • Damage to interior, upholstery, roof, undercarriage, clutch or gearbox from misuse; engine damage from wrong fuel; contamination.
  • Wheels and tyres.
  • Lost, stolen, or damaged keys; key replacement and lockout service fees.
  • Personal belongings left in or stolen from the vehicle.
  • Hit-and-run without a police report, or any incident where required documents are not provided.
  • Off-road use or undercarriage damage caused by road conditions not appropriate for the vehicle.

10) If You Have an Accident or Damage - What to Do

  1. Ensure the safety of all persons. Call emergency services if needed (190 Police / 150 SAMU).
  2. Contact MarHire Support immediately: WhatsApp/Phone +212 660 745 055. Do not wait.
  3. Do not admit liability at the scene under any circumstances.
  4. Obtain a police report or a completed and signed constat amiable (friendly accident report).
  5. Photograph the scene, all vehicles, licence plates, and all damage. Record the exact location, date, and time.
  6. Collect the third party's insurance certificate, vehicle registration, and driver licence details. Collect witness names and contact information.
  7. Submit all documentation  report, photos, rental agreement  to the partner at or before vehicle return.

Important: Failure to provide required documentation may result in full liability up to the vehicle's total value, plus downtime charges, towing fees, and administration costs  even if a waiver is otherwise in place.

11) Roadside Assistance & Replacement Vehicles

Assistance is available 24/7. Towing is to the nearest partner garage or as directed by the insurer.

A replacement vehicle is subject to availability and the nature of the incident. If damage results from an excluded use (see §9), costs may apply and a replacement may be refused.

12) Inspection, Repairs & Charges

  • All repairs must be authorised by MarHire or the insurer. Unauthorised repairs are not reimbursed.
  • You agree to pay: the applicable excess (based on actual damage cost up to the excess cap, or €0 on Zero-Risk Protection), any fines or tolls, towing costs where you were at fault or an exclusion applies, administration fees, and any downtime charges permitted under Moroccan law and the rental contract.
  • Final charges are calculated after inspection and receipt of repair invoices or standardised damage matrices used by the partner.

13) Documents Required at Pick-Up

  • Valid passport and driving licence; International Driving Permit where required.
  • Cash for the deposit, where applicable (Basic Protection); card payment accepted where a card machine is available.
  • Flight details for airport pick-ups (enables meet-and-greet and flight delay tracking).

14) Claims & Refunds

  • If you paid an excess or damage estimate, any overpayment will be refunded after final repair invoices are received and assessed.
  • Cash deposits not used for damages are refunded at vehicle return after inspection. Card holds are released within 3 to 14 business days depending on your bank.
  • Disputes are handled by MarHire Support in coordination with the local partner and insurer. Please allow reasonable time for assessments.

15) Your Responsibilities

  • Drive in full compliance with Moroccan traffic laws and applicable speed limits.
  • Protect the vehicle: lock doors, remove keys, park in safe locations.
  • Use the correct fuel type and retain receipts when requested.
  • Report incidents to MarHire immediately and cooperate fully with insurer and partner procedures.
